In an attempt to avoid any confusion, we have come up with a list of questions we expect to get in the next couple days. Please take a moment to read:

1.       What is Glen Rock Travel Basketball?

o Glen Rock Travel Basketball is a travel program for 2nd & 3rd grade boys and girls in Glen Rock. You are eligible to play if you are a Glen Rock resident or attend a Glen Rock school.  Tryouts will be run by 3-4 basketball coaches / trainers who will decide on the final rosters. No parents will be involved in the tryout process to avoid favoritism so we can create 2 equal teams (if necessary). Boys and girls teams will be separate. All teams will be in the Bergen Travel Basketball League with over 30 teams represented in Bergen County including Midland Park, Fair Lawn, Upper Saddle River, Mahwah, Paramus, Ho Ho Kus, Oradell, Hillsdale and Woodcliff Lake.

2.       Can my son or daughter play on both Glen Rock Travel Basketball team and a Goats team at the same time?

o Yes. We will have control of the practice and game schedules in both programs so they will not conflict.

3.       What is the difference between Glen Rock Travel Basketball and Goats?

o The Glen Rock teams will be entered into the Bergen Travel Basketball League. Each team will play against other town travel teams that have been entered into the League from surrounding towns. The Goats teams are open to all players from all towns and play independent games in addition to being entered into the Hoop Heaven League playing against more competitive local AAU teams.

4.       How many kids will be on each Glen Rock team?

o 10 kids max will be placed on each of the teams. The League mandates that all players have equal playing time.

5.       Who will be coaching the teams?

o Our coaches are members of the Goats basketball program which has been running travel teams, year round, for the past 12 years. We have specific coaches who specialize in this age group.

6.       Where will the games be played?

o Games in the Bergen Travel Basketball League (bergentravelbasketball.com) will be held in gyms all over Bergen County. The BTBL is the largest youth basketball league in the state of New Jersey, encompassing 400 teams. Our home games will be played at the Ridgewood YMCA in Ridgewood.

7.       Anything else we should know?

o Season will begin mid November and run until mid February. Games will begin early January. Each team is guaranteed 14 games plus playoffs. Teams will practice one day per week (days/times TBD). Teams will play in an additional tournament separate from the Bergen Travel Basketball League - either a Thanksgiving Tournament or Christmas Tournament - TBD. Cost for the season is $395.

8.       Any other questions?

o Please

contact Joe Jackson directly at 201-739-8511 or email us back.
